and relates creation to the history of Israel. It does not attempt to demonstrate that the Creator-God is Yahweh. Rather, it presents Yahweh as the Creator. The creation narrative also forms a prologue to the history of redemption. This narrative was revealed to a people who had come to know Yahweh as the God of the mighty acts of redemption and of Mount Sinai. This God is the Creator and the Ruler over all the world. The emphasis of the two chapters can be best appreciated by gleaning from the Psalms
